Fungal infections are very common on both fingers and toes. Toes are more likely to be affected since the fungi grows and develops in dark and humid environment which is common in our feet due to the foot wear we use. In severe cases, affected nails tend to discolor. In these cases the nails tend to thicken and become brittle and in some cases shed. It can really be painful and to make things worse having fungi nails can really be embarrassing and disfiguring.
- How to prevent getting infected
In many aspects just like cost, prevention is always better than cure. That goes the same for this type of infection. As we have learned this type of fungus grows on warm moist areas. This fungus can even live for a short time in puddles on tile floors and basically waiting for you to step on it. It is best that you wear slippers or sandals wherever you go. If in cases where you need to work with feet getting wet, wear boots to avoid touching the water which will become essentially dirty. After any workout sessions or any exercise activities take off your shoes (if you are wearing any) then rest (basically letting your hands or feet cool off), wash and dry your feet immediately.
As you can see, fungi nails can be quite nasty when you get infected. It is best to avoid being infected rather than curing it and by following these simple prevention tips you can be assured that you are far from getting infected by this nasty fungi.
